Leading someone to Christ

Yesterday afternoon, I had the privilege of spending time with a young man (12 years old) to talk about life, school, etc. As he jumped (literally) into my car after getting out of school he asked how dinosaurs lived millions of years before humans when the Bible says they were created days apart. He had been reading Genesis with his family for devotions and yet his school textbook disagreed with the creation account. So we talked about that for a few minutes and when there is a contradiction between the Bible and something else, we have to believe the Bible.

Half way through our conversation he mentioned that he didn’t have much of a relationship with God and wanted one but wasn’t sure how to have one. He was having a hard time at school (not uncommon for 12 year old men when they have to sit for 8-9 hours), life wasn’t going great and his 18 year old brother was not doing well at all. As we talked about how God will do whatever it takes to help turn us back to Him, this young man recognized that God had used some of the things in his life to bring him to the point where he was ready to surrender his life to Jesus!!!! :)

Here is a short summary of what we talked about…but not necessarily in this order.  And imagine lots of questions between the points below from a 12 year old. (What’s holy water? Who was Satan before he sinned? Why is life unfair? Do you want one of my skittles? etc) :)

  • God created us to be with Him. Genesis 1-2.
  • Our sin separated us from God. Genesis 3.
  • Sins cannot be removed by good deeds. Genesis 4-Malachi.
  • Paying the price for sin, Jesus died and rose again! Matthew, Mark, & Luke.
  • Everyone who trusts in Him alone has eternal life.  John
  • Life with Jesus, starts now and lasts forever. Acts-Revelation.

The above acrosstic is from Dare 2 Share ministries!  And is a great way to remember the Gospel! :)

So yesterday afternoon at 5:05pm (MST), the heavens had a party because this young man surrendered his heart and life to Jesus Christ! (Luke 15:10).  Pray for him to grow passionately and deeply in love with his Savior!

THERE IS NOTHING BETTER IN THIS LIFE THAN BEING ABLE TO WATCH SOMEONE SURRENDER THEIR LIFE TO JESUS!!!! (Besides surrendering your own life to Jesus of coarse!)
